Common Simplify Jobs issues
Autofill not populating correctly. Simplify's primary feature is auto-filling job application forms with your stored profile data. If the autofill is missing fields or entering incorrect data, the likely cause is that the application form uses non-standard field labels that Simplify doesn't recognise. Manually correct any mis-filled fields before submitting.
Extension not recognising the job application page. Simplify works on a set of supported job boards. For unsupported boards or for job applications hosted on a company's custom ATS, the extension won't activate. This is by design — not a bug.
Chrome permissions issue. After a Chrome update, extensions sometimes lose permissions. Go to chrome://extensions, find Simplify, and verify that site permissions are set to "Allow on all sites" (or the specific sites you use Simplify for).
Applications being tracked incorrectly. Simplify's job tracker sometimes creates duplicate entries or misses applications. This is a known limitation of the database-sync feature rather than a critical error — manually correct the tracker where needed.
Simplify's limitation: it's mainly a form-filler, not an active applicant
Simplify is primarily a form-autofill tool with a job tracker. It doesn't automatically apply to jobs on your behalf — it speeds up the manual application process by pre-filling your information when you actively apply. This is meaningfully different from automated application tools.
This means Simplify alone cannot reach the application volume needed for a fast job search (10–20+ applications per day) if you're manually navigating to each job. The time saving per application is real, but you still have to find and open each application yourself.
For job seekers who need to maintain high application volume without spending hours on manual submissions, a fully automated tool (not just a form-filler) is a better fit.
Alternatives for different needs
If you need form autofill specifically: Simplify remains one of the best tools for this. The issues above are mostly minor and patchable. If the autofill is broken, check for a pending extension update.
