7 reasons Easy Apply stops working
1. The job is no longer accepting applications. The most common reason the button is greyed out or missing. The employer closed the listing but LinkedIn hasn't removed it yet. Nothing you can do — move on.
2. Your profile is missing required fields. Some employers require a phone number, location, or LinkedIn profile URL to be complete before Easy Apply activates. Go to your profile and fill in any missing basics.
3. You've already applied. LinkedIn disables Easy Apply on jobs you've submitted to. Check "My Jobs → Applied" to confirm.
4. You've hit the daily limit. If Easy Apply is failing silently (no error, no confirmation), you may have reached the ~50/day cap. See our guide on the Easy Apply limit.
5. Browser or extension conflict. Ad blockers, VPNs, or outdated browsers can interfere with the submission flow. Try in an incognito window with extensions disabled.
6. Outdated cache. A stale browser cache can show a broken version of the LinkedIn jobs page. Hard-refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R) or clear your cache.
7. Account restriction. If LinkedIn has flagged your account for unusual activity (too many connection requests, automated behaviour), some features including Easy Apply may be throttled. Check your inbox for a warning email from LinkedIn.
Applied but don't see it in "My Jobs"?
This is a known LinkedIn bug where the application processes successfully on the backend but doesn't appear in your "My Jobs → Applied" list immediately — or sometimes at all. Wait a few hours and refresh. If the listing now shows "Applied" when you find it in search, it went through.
If the application genuinely failed (network timeout, error screen), the job listing will still show the Easy Apply button as if you haven't applied. In that case, try again or apply directly on the company's careers page.
When to give up on Easy Apply for a specific role
If you've tried the fixes above and the button still won't work for a role you really want, go directly to the company's careers page. Search "[Company Name] careers" and find the same role there. Direct applications typically get a higher response rate anyway — the employer sees that you made the extra effort.
The deeper issue with relying on Easy Apply is fragility: any platform change, account issue, or daily limit can silently block your applications. LoopCV applies across 30+ job boards server-side — not through a browser extension — which means browser issues, platform UI changes, and per-account limits on individual platforms don't break the entire pipeline.
